How we put it together
This room started with one question: what does a slow Sunday morning feel like? For us, it's soft light coming through something colorful, a bed you don't want to leave, and a few green things that make the air feel fresher. Everything here was chosen to be lived with, not just looked at.
Start with the light
The drapes do most of the work in this room. Upcycled sari panels filter morning sun into warm, shifting color without blocking it out completely, so the room wakes up gently with you. Because every panel is one of a kind, no two windows will ever look quite the same.
Tip: Hang your rod higher and wider than the window frame. It makes the ceiling feel taller and the window look bigger, and it lets the drapes fall in fuller, softer folds.
Layer soft, natural textures
Mix a few textures rather than matching everything: a crinkled linen throw, a chunky knit at the foot of the bed, and a cotton pillow in a color pulled from the drapes. Natural fibers breathe better, soften with every wash, and age beautifully instead of pilling.
Bring a little green inside
One or two easy-care plants on a sill or nightstand make a big difference. Pothos, snake plants, and peace lilies are forgiving if you forget to water, and they soften the hard lines of furniture.
Quote: A calm room isn't an empty room. It's a room where everything has a reason to be there.
Keep it personal
The last layer is yours: a stack of books you're actually reading, a handmade mug, a wooden spoon you carved yourself hanging on the wall. Those are the pieces that turn a nicely styled room into your room.
Already have some of these pieces? Just untick them in the list above and add the rest.
